In Northeast Ohio, there’s no need to go far from the city for a taste of nature. The Cleveland Metroparks, over 21,000 acres, consist of 18 reservations, including plenty of hiking and biking trails, as well as waterfall features and places to kayak. Take a casual daytime stroll at Acacia, play a round of golf at Manakiki or Sleepy Hollow, enjoy a winding hike through the trees at Squire’s Castle, have a picnic at Euclid Creek or rent a kayak and paddle your way out to Lake Erie at Rocky River Reservation. The Cleveland area is full of Metroparks locations and trails for visitors to explore and enjoy.
In the summer, take the kids to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, where visitors can feed giraffes, watch elephants and get up close with tigers. Cap off a summer evening at Edgewater LIVE on Thursday nights or Euclid Beach LIVE on Friday nights—both feature musical performances, food trucks and fun on the waterfront. In the winter, snowshoes are available for rent, and cross-country skiing is permitted on select trails as well. Check clevelandmetroparks.com for an updated calendar of events year round.
