The Western Reserve Historical Society exists to collect, preserve, interpret, and exhibit the possessions (and to collect and make available for scholarly research the documentation) of the diverse peoples who have made the Western Reserve and northeastern Ohio their home. In addition, the Society acts to preserve and interpret historic properties within the same region. The Western Reserve Historical Society owns and operates the Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum, The History Museum, Chisholm Halle Costume Wing, and the Genealogical Library at its University Circle location; Hale Farm & Village in Bath, OH; Loghurst in Canfield, OH; and Shandy Hall in Geneva, OH. CURRENT EXHIBITS (at the University Circle Complex): Do You Know Your Lincoln? An Exhibit Celebrating the Bicentennial of the Birth of Abraham Lincoln. "Do You Know Your Lincoln?" launches a series of exhibits, events, and programs about Abraham Lincoln and the American Civil War in tribute to the Bicentennial of the birth of Lincoln in 2009 and the Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War beginning in 2011. Soul Soldiers: African Americans and the Vietnam Era This new multimedia exhibit explores the issues, actions, reactions, and expressions of life and culture of African Americans as they were impacted by Civil Rights and the war in Vietnam. Under the Covers: Quilts from the Collection Vintage 18th-, 19th- and 20th-century quilts from the significant Western Reserve Historical Society collection are on display for the first time in nearly 20 years.
